Project Description
The Crafts Programme of the University of West Attica provides a specialised training programme comprising four cycles of theoretical and laboratory-based courses in the fields of weaving and ceramics.
The aim is to equip trainees with high-level productive skills and knowledge in weaving and ceramics, enabling them to make use of direct employment opportunities in the ceramic and textile industries and/or to launch their own professional activity, either as self-employed professionals or as a business, as well as to teach future generations of craft practitioners.
Implementation Framework
The programme forms part of the broader Action of the Ministry of Culture entitled “Revitalisation of Local Craft Units as a Driving Force for Development”, under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0.
More specifically, it is implemented within the framework of the project “Sub.2.3 Educational Programme for the Development of Craft-Related Skills”, MIS 5200774. Sub.2.3 constitutes Phase B of the broader initiative undertaken by the Ministry of Culture for the implementation of a “Model Strategy for the Reconstruction, Development and Repositioning of Greek Craftsmanship”. This initiative aims to foster the emergence of a new generation of craft practitioners through vocational training and certification, business support and international networking in the fields of weaving, woodworking and ceramics.
The project is included in the Recovery and Resilience Facility, Recovery Pillar 4, Axis 4.6, Action Code 1629, and is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
